Baccalaureate | Dr. Megan Roberts
Dr. Roberts holds a Bachelor of Arts in Applied Linguistics (with High Honours) from Moody, a Master of Arts in Biblical Exegesis (with Honours) from Wheaton, and a PhD in Christian Theology (Old Testament) from McMaster under Dr. Mark Boda. Her PhD thesis was titled “Remembering and Forgetting in Isaiah 40-55: Memory and the Problem of Comfort” which draws on sociological memory studies and trauma theory to argue that a shared memory framework is essential for the exilic Judeans to receive God’s restorative comfort and healing from exilic trauma. This research connects to both her teaching and work in the local church, “as we seek to be transformed into the likeness of Christ and as we seek to share that transforming Life with others who are broken and lost.”
Dr. Roberts joined the Prairie College faculty from Colorado in the summer of 2021 and quickly endeared herself to the student community through both her excellence in the classroom and her care for students’ lives outside of the classroom. She has been the recipient of the student nominated Graeme Crouch award in 2022 and 2023, and the student nominated Connie Kondos award in 2022, living out her teaching philosophy that “excellence in teaching content and pedagogy must flow out of the first priority of being a conduit of God’s love for my students. In this way students and teacher together pursue lives that bear the Kingdom’s good fruit.”
Dr. Roberts has had extensive experience in cross-cultural ministry contexts, having participated in two-dozen one-week mission trips to Juarez, Mexico, completing her university summer internship in Nepal working with Bible translation projects, and teaching for five years at the Logos International School in Phnom Penh, Cambodia.
She is active in her church community leading music and preaching, hosting weekly women’s prayer group, and serving as a deacon, noting “My teaching vocation grows out of my rootedness in the local church as I recognize that the ultimate goal of my teaching and mentoring is to build up and deepen the Church wherever it might be found.”
Dr. Roberts also enjoys running, gardening, cooking, and a cup of coffee on a quiet Saturday morning.
The class of 2024 is honoured to invite Dr. Roberts to present their baccalaureate address on their theme from Psalm 46:10 “Be still and know that I am God”, a topic she has frequently discussed with them this year–being present so that we can encounter God.

We have launched our Campaign for Greater Impact to provide students with the very best learning opportunities and campus facilities for the decades ahead.
In Phase One of this Campaign, we plan to invest in much-needed campus renewal, including: upgraded Infrastructure, a new Student Residence, Cafeteria, Worship Auditorium, and expanded Aviation Training Centre. A modern campus requires an investment that is bold, and even expensive, but each Campaign Project is strategic, and designed to enhance Prairie’s campus and student life experience.
This expansion of PATC’s facility is a key project of Prairie’s Campaign for Greater Impact. It will increase the College’s capacity to train a new generation of Christian aviators to serve God in missions, and also address the growing need for trained pilots in the commercial aviation sector.
Invest in the next generation of missional professionals. Each year Prairie College distributes over $500,000 in scholarships and bursaries to students. We are grateful for each gift that reduces the burden of students’ tuition and allows students to fulfill their God-given professions.
Encourage inmates in five institutions across Alberta to discover or reconnect with Jesus Christ. This fund assists the students studying the Certificate in Bible program with scholarships, resources for classes, and instruction.
Prairie College is educating students to pursue a Biblical foundation for life and career. Your contribution to this fund assists in minimizing the College’s general operating expenses.
